window will not stay up after fitting a regulator

Hi all
I have a problem with my window and hope some body can kindly help me.
I have replaced my tail gate window regulator and when i put the window up, it keeps coming back down as soon as it touches the top.
I have tried to caliberate the window but it will not stay up for the 5 seconds or so to allow me to do this.
(After some time and perseverance)
i have managed to get my window up near the top so i can at least lock the car up at night
I have had to put duct tape on it just to stop the rain water coming inn.
I hope some one can help me .

Hi..a few questions

Does the glass disappear completely into the tailgate when it drops down?

Is the glass centred ok with an equal gap at both sides?

Does the glass go behind the top plastic trim and then drop.. or does it drop before this?

Have you tried putting the glass up using the key in the taildoor handle - does it stay up then?

Have you got your battery contacts nice and tight?

Lastly as in the other thread ... is it a 3 door or 5 door?
