Hi all
went to halfrauds to have a parrot MKi9200 kit fitted and after 30 mins the fitter came out and told me that he didnt notice it was aa hse with the harmon kardon stereo as parrot kits dont work with them as they are an amplified system??
Im finding this very hard to believe and wondered if anyone else had had similar problems or was the fitter pulling my leg?
The other problem i now have is that the built in sat nav although not fantastic will not work and the time on the unit has gone as well?

Hi, The HK system is a bit of a different animal to the standard stereo,

I'm deffo not an expert but, IMHO, it probably would work but would be a pain in the arse for the fitter, so its more cost effective for them to bump you and lose the sale.

Do a search an stereo upgrades (on here), peeps have had problems changing the headunit because of the wiring to the amp in the rear.

Good Luck...

i had a alpine radio fitted last week in my hse with parrot/ bluetooth. The fitted had to get a extra wire to fit it to the harmon kardon. works well but wire was £30. the sat nav was crap so did not worry about loosing it.

cool thanks for replies i found it hard to believe that it wouldnt be possible to do lol. maybe i would be better off with a new headunit with bluetooth instead.

Frontosa did the alpine unit still work with the cd changer and steeering wheel controls or are they now redundant? was that fitted by a specialist place or halfords as ive lost confidence in there ability lol?

thanks ian

Hi The cd player wont work as this is controlled by the radio but if u got a ipod who wants 6 cds,the steering wheel controls work with a extra connection. No i did not use halfords i found a great specialist who knew what he was doing and made a good tidy job.

frontosa what lead was it he used?
I have a the HK system with CD Changer and want to install a parrot or new headunit.
the lead used has a connection for the kh one end but the other end has to be compatable with the head unit you get so there could be quite a few i suppose.

You will need the SOT lead to plug into the HK amp in the boot N/S then a 5m ISO Extension lead to either plug into the Parrot Kit or new headunit

Hi There.

I have just added a Parrot kit to my HSE. It was the easiest self fit of this kit I have done (previously on Beemers).

The Parrot kit comes with standard ISO connectors which are coincidentally standard on the Becker Navisys head unit.

Therefore you do not need any SOT leads at all for this install, which is probably why the Halfrauds robot could not understand how to fit the kit. They are only educated in upselling and do not consider the obvious/straightforward.

Key here is to ensure that the phone mute is connected to pin A2 of the ISO block.

This will mute the stereo when in call, at which time you will hear a relay click in the under seat amp which reduces the level/amplification factor avoiding the regular complaints of over loud operation.

Incidentally the audio quality of the Parrot/HK is exceptional even when audio streaming from iphone. The Sub in the boot even works adding to the HK designed experience.

Best of luck.

My Freelander 04 has the Visteon 6-CD Changer an Harman Kardon built in. Will the Parrot mki9200 work with the system?

Any replies would be appreciated.

Thanks:)

I installed this,a fine bluetooth unit that auto-connects as soon as ignition is switched on as long as you have your phone in you pocket.

I don't want to change the head unit. The parrot seems to be one of the best options for bluetooh connection, but if it works with the Visteon 6-CD original radio together with the amplifier is a question. I dont mean the Becker NAVI head unit with Harman Kardon, but the double din original radio with HK.

If someone could help, would be great..:)
