looking to insure the landy and wondering who do you insure with?

it will be on social domestic and commute 4000 miles a year, me and wife on.

cheapest i can find is just over £400 for a £1000 car ???

my £11000 alfa only costs me £235 a year for 10000 miles????

Get used to this.

Why do land rovers have flat wings? No, it's not so that you can put your tool box on them. It's so that the insurers can bend you over them and shaft you.

Also watch out for insurers dodging liability for the normal things that land rovers are used for, like driving off road. I notice there is a load of small print in my Admiral policy - they will not be getting my business next year. NFU were good but pricey.

Last year I was insured with Flux Direct. I got my renewal letter and they wanted £300 for this year. I thought I could do better so I trawled all the comparison sites and managed to get it down to £200 with...wait for it....Flux Direct. Exactly the same cover, same excess etc but 1/3 cheaper.

I swear insurance is just a ****ing scam.

Im with Lacaster and the other half is with the AA both around £225 fully comp, just try compare the market if you havent already

Adrian Flux here on some type of classic policy but it's still £350 a year which is £100 more than I pay for my Lotus including track day cover. Same mileage, same NCB, same everything except the Disco is a lower insurance group and worth less.... Can't figure out Land Rover insurance. Seems to just be different to that which applies to all other cars from what I can see.

I had a quote from Adrian Flux, £450 odd for a £500 odd disco with excess protection (pay £100 excess and it comes back within 10 days), off road cover, fully comp, cover all modifications other than chips/turbos etc.

Didn't think that was too bad considering I have no NCB to use and haven't had my own policy in years.

94 300tdi Disco. I'm with Adrian Flux. Cheapest by far; including all mods (lift, spots, wheels, winch, roof rack), green laning, europe cover, europe breakdown. 12k miles, 3rd party on other vehicles. 5y NCB. £800 (im mid 20's). Yeh its still expensive but much cheaper than everyone else.

Little hint, do NOT under value your vehicle. It will cost MORE to insure a land rover worth £1000 than one worth £3000.. How much is your land rover worth? Well thats subjective..

NFU. Weve got all our insurance with them. Theyre not the cheapest, I got a quote from flux that was £50 less but it wasnt worth the hassle changing over when NFU have no qualms about modifications. Pay out quickly and are usually preety helpful. (Does help my dad was the best man for our local offices boss) but still :)

+1. Never had any hassle. When you do need to speak to them I just pop into the shop. Never longer than 5 minutes. Phone an insurance company and it takes about ten minutes just to speak to someone. NFU not the cheapest but certainly most convenient.:D

I'm still insured by Ageas but changed broker. Ditched Lancaster this year due to horrendous admin fees and crappy customer services and went through Autonet. Got a better deal on the excess' and reasonable admin fees for same quote.

Yep if I need something doing urgently, just pop intp town and chat to them. Everything done that day.

hi guys, thanks for all the suggestions. I am now insured with Sure Thing.
£260 for the year.

just for the heads up incase anyone else besides me didnt realise. I searched the 3 main compare sites:
money supermarket
go compare
compare the market

the prices were all massively different on them even from the same company!! so worth checking them all
