Whistling TD5 at 2200rpm

Hi all,My TD5 runs lovely but have noted lately whilst cruising nicely at 2200rpm, a strange whistle sound appears.If i step of the accellorator or increase slightly it stops. I am presuming its the turbo - does this mean its on its way out?

i can just hear my turbo with out the radio off but any mor than that then there is a problem

You say whistle...do you mean the same whistling noise you get out the exhaust when the TD5's ticking over? Coz that's the turbo.

Check the flexible joint on the front exhaust down pipe is not split, quite common and that can cause a "whistle"
