Which diesel engine

I have a series 2 1959, which has a 90 bonnet and series 3 wings, so loads of space to replace the fuel drinking ( 12/15 mpg ) series 3 2.25 engine.
Ive been offered a diesel 2.1 Peugeot or a diesel 3.0 Mazda, which one would be best. ??

neither of them are great, the Perkins boat engine is a goodun, fairly bulletproof - or just do the 200 thing and keep it all LR

how much is he wanting for the engines ?

Or as sean said a 200 tdi

He wants shot of them so will be cheap.. £100/£200..

£250 would get a 200, which is way better than any of those offered

Will a 200 bolt on to series 3 box.

yep very nicely

Engine mounts line up to.
You just need to run a line back to the fuel tank, run a wire to the heater plugs and connect the exhaust.

fuel solenoid

sounds a bit easy..... what about the turbo ? what mpg will I get on a 4 speed box.

A 19j 2.5td out of a 90 or 110 goes nicely in a series landy. Not too powerful, easy to fit, very cheap to buy. Find a good one and you're laughing. Fookin noisy though but then so will a tdi be.

200tdi my vote

got my 200tdi for bout £120 in the end... with 112k on the clock. Good runner - started first time no problems

Fitting is fairly simple as said - though see my thread if you want to know all the dark secrets of what it is really like trying to fit one... not quite a drop in and go as some people suggest. Then again - depends how competent you are with it all!

i would recomend the land rover 2.5 nad they seem fairly bullet proof had one in a freight rover campervan and have got one in my 1963 2a

Im thinking of going down the 200tdi route if I buy a complete car what else can I use off it, ie: power steering etc...
