Which 100" Chassis ?

Which 100" Chassis ?

Hi Think im going to build a 100" defender and in your opinion which is the best chassis as a starting point , RR classic,Disco or shortened 110 ?

Well for a start the RR Classic and the Disco 1 have the same chassis. If you want a chassis with a 100" wheel base, why not use one that has a 100" wheel base to start with, rather than bodging a 110" chassis.

I thought I just answered that!! :doh: As the Disco and Range Rover chassis are the same, it makes no difference which of those you use. So It is a simple choice between using the Disco/Range Rover Chassis, which already has a 100" wheelbase, or bodging a 110" chassis. Surely it would make more sense to use the one that already has the wheelbase you want. So the answer is simple USE EITHER A DISCO OR RANGE ROVER CHASSIS!

Sorry Martin for some reason only half of my reply is shown . It should of said are all RR classic's and Disco 1 and 11's 100". I thought i heard some where that they changed some time towards the end ???

Ok, yes, apart from the range rover vogue LSE, all disco 1's and range rover classics have 100" wheel bases.

Hybrid - not sure if you've seen it already but there is a fantastic TV workshop series called 'A 4x4 is Born' by Mark Evans, in which he builds from scratch a 100" Defender hybrid on a RRC chassis. Would be very helpful to your project, if you haven't seen it already that is

Why not lengthen a 90 if you want to make it a bit more difficult?

Why not retain the Disco or Range Rover Classic bodywork?
