Out the front, spanner in hand
Water, that is. recently replaced the roof on me 110, got rid of the old ribbed one with holes in it an got a nice smooth one, the missis likes it much better:eek:  Sealed it all in all round and at the windscreen but water is getting in somewhere and collecting in the cantrail inside where the bolts are. Really annoying cos when i brake or go downhill it all runs to the front and drips through the headling. Has anyone else had this and where the bloody hell does it get in cos i can't see anycracks/gaps round the roof/body join.

An its really ****in me off cos i'm gettin wet.

Haha i found the funniest thing on mine today, bearing in mind there are about 1" gaps round all the doors and at the bottom of the rear door, at some point some previous owner had put draft excluder tape round the top of the rear door!!!

Mine's at the stage where keeping the water out involves wearing an anorak and wellies!

have you tried sitting in it when its raining really heavy and looking thats how i found my leaks and sealed them:D

Well i guess ur right its just a case of pulling all the headlining out and having a look sounds a bit like wotchin paint dry tho.

Anyways, after browsing around I found a 'water ingress manual' for the defender on another forum  which contains lots of common sense instructions for finding and fixing water leaks.

Unfortunately I don't hav enuff common sense to know how to attch it to this thread as its 566kb pdf and the limit is 19. Boo.

Yes, please do!

Fixed the first leak, which was caused by some silicone sealant applied to bulkhead by previous owner -- the water ran down the A-pillar, encountered the sealant, and then came round the rubber door seal and dripped on the passenger's feet: simply removing the sealant blob cured the 'leak'!

Since then, a very wet camping holiday has revealed several other leaks, including from rear sliding windows (or around there)...

Hope you got my previous message, check the rear window wash nozzle, mine(110 Defender) was not sealed in properly so let water into the channel inside the roof. Water then found its way to the front. Good luck 14landrovers

Check the washer nozzle over the back window. Mine was not sealed properly and water got into the channel inside the roof.
Good Luck 14landrovers
Am new to this game so have sent similar messages in the hope one gets to you!

OK, just to give closure to this one and thanks for all the useful advice from you guys - it was the two vents on the rear of the roof, which were loose in their housings and allowing water to get in and collect in the inner cantrail - the landy was parked facing slightly uphill. Siliconed em up and driza bone now. Wooohooooo!
