This is a PTC heater . Fitted to Td4 without webasto FBH. It sits in heater box above heater core.
It helps to make your windows mist free and have a comfortable heat in cabin before engine reach his normal temperature.

You need to have (or do) electric loom for it, as it like Amper's when cold. Loom contains a 3 x fuse 30A, HD relay and micro-switch in heater panel.
When coolant temperature rises, and warmer air comes out from heater core it's power draw goes down.

Or maybe you got it, but fuses/relay is broken :)

Check small fusebox attached to L-box in engine compartment, and look for relay on bulkhead

had a quick look

found the tiny fuse box with 3 x 30 amp fuses in ,they all seem good,as for the other place to check i could not find it lol (the red arrow ,what should i be looking for there? fuses or relay)

i def do not have a fbh so does that mean i would most likley have one of these?

Probably yes.
Red arrow indicates PTC Relay, if you have it (od base for it) you should have PTC.
Little fusebox also can be used for Heated Front Screen if you have one. LR made varous configurations as you can see on photo posted earlier, this car have two small fuse boxes.

The best way to check that you have PTC is go to foot well and look for four gross wires

hi there again

had a look in foot well like said and all i can see is this

i was told all this does is runs the speed of the heater ,so is that correct or does this heat ?

as for heated front screen ,i wish lol mine has nothing like that lol

This thread caught my eye, my TD4 doesn't have a FBH and its quite annoying how long it takes to warm up and demist sometimes.

So reading that I might have a PTC is good news. Although if I have one its not working.

I have both the mini fuse box and relay under the bonnet.

Is the heater element easy to reach?

that is the resistor pack that controls the fan speeds, it warms up but not enough to heat up the cabin or demist the front screen

Mine only works when you turn the temp control to the right and feel a definite click.

I'm interested in this as well, i have the small fusebox under the bonnet, but i've never heard a click when i turn the heater on full and the engine is cold.
Plus i know i get hot air only when the engine is up to some temperature.

I'd like to figure out if i have a PTC heater and if not i'd probably want to fit one :D
