hi all,

hope your all ok.

Can anyone advise where to buy front pads and discs for my td4 2003 sport? are the sport different to the other freelanders? I.e hse model?

Prefer original stuff and purchasing through main dealer is usually more expensive. Can I purchase original stuff from anywhere else? Like they do with other cars like BMW, you can buy original parts but boxed by textar for example.

Your help would be very appreciated.

Regards

Hi
Most items are available on e-bay at a reduced price just a case of searching through to find what you want

Good luck

As Maddy says ebc are top quality but pricey. If you buy alternative then go for Lucas TRW discs with Mintex pads which are good quality. these cost me just under £60 for the lot from a decent ebay seller & are excellent. Don't buy the cheap unbranded £40 stuff off ebay, it's sometimes ok, sometimes quite nasty.

any thoughts on delphi pads? Been offered these but unsure. Also, is there a link to a DIY on changing pads and discs? Finally, has the TD4 have a brake wear sensor?

Cheers

Haynes and RAVE will show you how it all fits together. Haynes will give you the method. A question comes to mind. Are you sure you want to be replacing a safety related item like the brakes with no prior knowledge on what you're doing? Not knocking you mate but if you're not sure then get someone who is, to help you.

I don't believe there is a brake wear sensor on the TD4, the L series definately doesn't have one.

Hi there for your help.

Darmain, I will get my bro to help, as he had done loads of brake changes on several vehicles.

Horse, thanks, let me know. I will let you know my experience!

Cheers Guys

hi there,

fitted pads and discs. All ok but seem to sqeaky in gentle braking. Fitted correctly! Fitted Delphi brakes and got the discs from UNIPART. Its been a few weeks now and they have seem to corrode already. Is this normal?

How can I overcome the sqeaking? is the quality of pad or disk? Its really wet and been over major pools of water, so I dont know if that helped.

Your help will be much appreciated

Cheers

rusting is a good sign - means yu aint got any grease on em - and it increases surface friction ;).

as fur squeaks - did yu fit anti squeal shims? sometimes they squeal when bedding in (first 100 miles)

hi there,

did not fit anti squeal shims. I have done about 200 miles now. only started sqealing yesterday. If I pressed soft on the brake slight sqeal. If I press reasonably hard, no squeal and then press soft no squeal, so its not all the time.

You think it will stop if they bed in, will it eventually stop? Just dont people to think its a bus when I pull up :)

very dissapointed with the delphi brakes. Squeals when cold. Like when reversing and pressing brakes gently.

Could this be the quality of the discs? They are new, but not original.

Your help will be much appreciated.

Cheers
Nick
