Where the Hell has my wastegate gone!

Just been poking around my 200TDI today and noticed something quite critical!

My Wastegate controller valve on my turbo had been replaced with a spring on a tethered wire connected to the wastegate lever!

Now why would this be done? Maintaining higher pressure for a wound up injector pump?

yes to give higher pressure wont hurt on a 200tdi, also easy fix if 200 fitted in series as you need to turn turbo snail cam around to aid fitting

ahh that explains it, but could that mean if you use the wrong tension spring you loose max boost pressure due the wastegate opening prematurely?

if it was too loose it could do that ,normally they fit one with enough tension
