Hi guys, looking to purchase NATO green satin for the landy, any recommendations on where and how much to buy, I'm painting it by hand with roller btw

I was just reading an old post you replied to saying the same thing, made me laugh, what u recommend then, wanted to give it that army look

I could shoot some holes in it for you ?

Sand coloured ? There's fewer of them and IMHO it's nicer than moldy green, or a nice classic land rover colour like limestone ?

I just have a pet hate for NATO green being splashed on everything to make it in your words "army style" real ex MOD yeah but why do it to a normal road car ?

Right back to the color chart I go

Isn't that a lot nicer than old NATO green ?

Well he is a classic car restorer but I don't think he rebuilt it, you can get a good effect through roller though and it would look just as good from a distance
It's only close up you see the painting technique

I'll up load the finished pics when done, if I go for NATO just look the other way.

You go for what colour you want, sod us lot!

I chose nato green because it is matt and thus looks better than gloss with a roller/brush job, and my V5 says Green, so NATO green it was.

I got mine off ebay and it was good stuff. Made it look much tidier. One piece of advice would be to make sure you buy an expensive brush and different roller sizes (again not cheapos). Do it in the summer and spend a day masking it, not 10 mins like I did! It just looks much neater. Prep it properly etc... but with a hand-painted finish, it isn't going to be pretty up close, so just bear that in mind.
Good luck

Pastel green looks nice on a series

About rollering, get a decent quality roller, costs more but does give a much better finish.

When painting mine, tried a cheapy foam roller first and left huge air bubbles and switched to a more expensive gloss roller and much nicer :)

Thanks mate, nice to see that the color choice is liked. Being a decorator brushes do make a difference so I'll upload pics when done, just need to do a bulk of wireing first

I too pondered the NATO green but have seen so many lately.

been pondering about a matt grey colour, either the sea grey or battleship grey. Matt black looks good. But I have phobia with black vehicles.

With regard to paint application I was also pondering using the spray gun that came with my compressor. Trouble is I have never used a spray gun. Was thinking maybe be best to use the rollers which i have seen on a couple of land rovers and the finish looked pretty good in the matt. And the chaps who applied it had no experience prior.

This is a good video

Have a go with the spray gun inside the wheelarches where no one will see it :) You can practise on areas like that and if it comes out good you can try athe rest (I've never used a spray gun btw, only brush and roller)
