Hi I have a 4.6 P38 2000 and when ever i fill up with fuel it takes me around 10 mins due to the pump keeps cutting off as though the tank is full but I know it is not is there any way of getting round this I have been to different petrol stations so try different pumps but still same. It is not very good when there is a big que behind me. Has anyone got any ideas

get lpg!!! you will only nee to put a tenner in a month then!!!!

word of warning tho, it takes me about 25 mins to fill 94 litres of lpg!!!!

I am having the same problem, even when just letting the petrol dribble in it still comes up the filler tube and takes ages to settle back down, and the tank is only 3/4 full after trying to fill for 15minutes. It doesnt take so long to fill with lpg but i have now changed back to petrol as my main fuel.

mine did it today, i only put £20 in, bout quater full now, and it was doing it. pulled nozzle out a bit and it was fine!!!

then again, if you hadn't mentioned it, i wouldn't have noticed a problem!!!

I tried pulling the nozzel out, and only pulling the trigger 1/4 of the way and even less than that to allow the petrol to literally dribble in but it makes no diffrence i can only get 3/4 of a tank. I have also fitted a brand new sender unit in the tank so i know it is reading correctly, yet my dads diesel fills up without a problem. It doesnt concern me but it would be nice to get a full tank while the petrol is cheap.

Check ya vent pipe is clear. the end blocks up with crud and all the air in the tank is forced back up the filler tube causing it to airlock.

this might sound silly but are you facing uphill when filling? mine read 1/2 tank immediately after putting in about 1/4 tank, on uphill forcourt. when i got home, flat ground, it read 1/4.

so in light of this i reckon the fuel is sloshing to the rear of the tank if the car is facing up hill!!! try turning car round and filling!!!

Same problem with me, except at the local Waitrose station funnily enough. I've had the filler tube, sender unit, tank and breather pipe off loads of times so so a blockage I would surely have noticed. Land Rover did issue a Technical Bulletin to cover this issue, but only to replace the filler tube with a newer one which my model has. Getting quite used to having diesel splash on my shoes now...

Car is on the flat, the filler and breather pipes have been off and checked and the guage seems to operate correctly. Its just something i`ll get used to i suppose.

tried at different fuel stations and they are all the ame not checked breather pipes yet i have pulled nozzel out a bit and made it come out very slow still the same even tried turning the nozzel upsidedown when filling up will check breather pipes

is it a big job to change the filler tube
