First time poster here so hello and thanks in advance for your help.

I have a 2004 Disco II with air suspension and 18" wheels, i failed to tighten the wheel nuts properly after changing a wheel and have snapped a wheel stud as a result. So the question is where can i buy a set of studs?
The local garage who are repairing the car for me advise that the main dealer only supply the complete hub at some crazy price.
Any suggestions?

TAY10060 is the front hub and TAY10050 is the rear hub. I had 3 hubs replaced over the last 8 years (2 because of worn bearings and 1 because of failed ABS sensor) - but I didn't keep the old one!

I don't believe you can buy the studs seperately.

My suggestion is that the only chance would be to drive the broken stud out to the back of the hub (it'll be pushed in from the rear on manufacture). If you can get the old one out then you should be able to source the stud from a specialist (or a breakers yard) fastener company (somewhere like this http://www.clarik.co...gory&id_ctg=370 ) - search yell or thomson near you... or maybe there's an independant LR mechanic near you who's replacing a hub and will let you have an old one for pillaging? This is the guy who did mine Land Rover Range Rover Edinburgh Specialists White's Auto Services - why not give him a bell and see if he has an old hub you can have?

If you fancy changing it yourself, there's great instructions here www.discovery2.co.uk / Front Wheel Hub / Bearing Assy

There are secondhand drive shafts with hubs on fleabay for about £80 plus postage.

Look for ebay seller "landroverspareparts" Ric has them, front and back.

You could always drill out the remaining old stud, tap the threads and put a new one in. Alternatively, weld a smaller bolt onto the remaining bit of stud and wind it out?

Here's a picture of one our rear spares, I think you'd need the shaft out of the hub at least, as the studs won't move sideways enough to clear the hub.

Although a busted one would, you have problems fitting another one.

The studs are splined, interference fit as far as I remember.

I have just checked Microcat, there are no studs available new from LR.

Thanks for the replies,
Martin i took your advice and called Mike Aikten 4X4 in Ladybank who turned out to have a bucketfull of studs! A quick trip over to pick them up and back to the local garage where the car was, an hour later the Disco was back on the road. Mike even refused to take money for the studs, how good was that?
Again thank you to everyone for taking the time to reply. Martin, if you ever need a television fixed let me know,
(We are better at fixing TV's than Land Rovers!) im' in Fife not too far from the Bridge.

Listerdiesel shows pic of rear hub, and it looks like stud replacement is not possible. However on a D2 front hub, there is more space and also a notch at hub rear, which seems on examination, would allow stud replacement, when rotated/aligned with relevant stud.
Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone successfully done this?
