Hi I've got an old RR I am thinking of moving one. Its a 1990 'G' reg 2.5 TD Vogue. 213,000 miles BUT! it had a new engine at £170,000 miles - Got the old engine to send with it for parts should they be required.

Its genuine and has only done 3000 miles/year for the last 3 yrs as I only use it from July - Oct mainly and then once per week throughout the year to keep it running.

Tax disc and MOT are up at the end of this month, but both will be done before sale.

She's silver and in good condition bar the odd scratch as you would expect for a vehicle this age. The interior has been valeted but it still looks dirty in places. This is a works vehicle and has always been hence the odd mark. The radio/cassette does not work even though there is power to the head unit. Its got a tow bar but not done a lot of towing - 2-3 times per year for me on a 1000 litre fuel bowser.

She had new tyres in March 2008 so these after 6000 miles are immaculate.

Any ideas as I am wanting to put some money towards a replacement for her in the form of a Disco commercial for VAT reasons.

It's difficult to value vehicles that have colourful history. It depends how quick you want to sell it, because if you find someone who wants that particular model and can check it out themselves and is satisfied its a good example, then you might get over a grand. If you try and offload it on a dealer against another motor, you'll get book which will be peanuts.

I bought an '88 EFI which was in really good nick, with 56,000 "genuine miles". It looked fine to me. Guy had no offers for weeks, so it came down to what's it worth to break? Four good tyres, good body panels, interior good, chassis all good, sod it, I gave him £1100.

Same happened when I sold it, got £1000 after two years...
