I have Avon Ranger 215/65/16 fitted for the past 10 months covered approx 10,000 still about 5mm tread left, got them for £80 a corner from local garage, has anyone ever used Oponeo website Winter Tyres 215/65 R16 » Oponeo.co.uk ? came across them as im looking set of winter tyres was looking at sailun ice blazer wsl2 anyone ever used these?

Well, no, but I wouldn't fit any of those cheap Chinese tyres either. Believe me, Me and the wife make a good income from importing cheap and not so cheap stuff from China, but tyres are one thing I would not buy. I know that some manufacturers have bought the old tech from major tyre makers and can sell them on a budget due to no R&D, and of course come just copy the tread pattern which is only part of the whole grip thing. Of the Chinky tyres I'd start with Nexen/Roadstone or maybe Nankangs, but none others. Not yet- but give them a few years and I'm sure things will improve such as in Korea. Kumhos are great in my experiences, and some rate Hankooks. My fave tyres of recent are Coopers (who now own Avon btw) and there are some on that list for reasonable money. Last year I sold my Pajero on 285/75/16 Cooper STMAXX tyres and bought a GT TDi Golf and fitted Continental Winter Contact TS850 tyres after MUCH research and it gripped far better in the snow than any 4x4 I had had before... VERY good tyres and worth every penny whenever the temps drop below 7c. Not the cheapest but maybe the best. Anyhow, I bought them from Mytyres.com and much cheaper than locally sourced. Winter tyres want high silica content rubber and lots of siping (the little zig zagged grooves on the blocks) and current snow tyre theory is to pick up and hold the snow in the tread as snow sticks to snow best. Good luck with your choice, and remember that a good set of proper winter tyres will urinate all over a set of standard knobblies.... :bored:

Thanks for the advice, after getting another set of rims was looking wee bargain on tyres i know you get what you pay for will look into the others you mentioned ,appreciate your help.

Another vote here for Continental WinterContact tyres. I had TS810"s on the Yeti. Amazing grip when temps dropped. Having had a tyre destroyed, I ended up with a mixture of TS810's and TS830P.
