i have been hunting a new vehicle and have seen two i like an 04 reg with 77k 1 owner fsh es model and also a 2005 td6 s spec but has 137k on it for the same money what do people think

I'd put my money on the 04 TD5 rather than the 05 TD6. Being the last of the TD5's the disco 2's had pretty much sorted their issues out. The 05 TD6's being the earliest of the next generation Usually have the teething problems to go with it.

if the td6 is the 2.7 engine then it will be gutless a mate's boss has 1 and it would'nt pull yer forskin back (apparantly) :D

I can support the TD5 argument. They are great cars. Mine was one of the first of the TD5s though and I am painfully aware of the several mods made to the model in later years...

The D3, in my opinion, is superior in terms of ride and seems to cruise more effortlessly than the D2 TD5.

But that is not enough for me to own one !.

MPG will average around 22/25, ( unless its just a motorway cruiser ), and, although the D2 TD5 has a reputation for being difficult and expensive to maintain, the D3 seems out of my reach in this respect.

My TD5 does around 27/30 mpg on short runs, and I have been able to fix everything that has gone wrong myself.

There is masses of info on forums like this for the D2, but the info on the D3 seems a little lacking.

Although the TD5 has its problems, you can set your clock by them.

Sorry, I disagree with all the above, I've owned several high mileage D3's and the kick the arse of the finest 2 on the market in every way, if the two cars are the same price, either the 2 is mega overpriced or the D3 is stolen!
100% do not opt for the old model, but get the newer car checked by an independent specialist.

There both £11500 at a local 4x4 garage they both look tidy and have full landrover service history only the mileage and spec put me off the d3
I'll agree with the previous posters, if you live in town get the D3. The turning circle of the D2 is crap & very heavy for parking.
But if you don't live in town get the D2, it should be more reliable, & if you de-egr, de-cat & get a re-map, it'll be a hell of a lot more fun & cheaper to run.:flame2:

hahahaha ive never heard so much ****, the d3's are depreciating quicker than any landrover on the road and rusting a lot faster 2. thats why they are both at the same price, just looked in LRO and d3s are doing **** money and like i said depreciating faster than a 1.1 saxo. there unreliable and nothing resembles a true landrover
