My current intercooler has a 5" split up the side, I have quick steeled it for now but it loses boost still, If i floor it in first i will still get the turbo punch but it will wheesh like hell, wheeshes occasionally on full boost aswell,
So when i fit a new intercooler (waiting on delivery) an egr blanking plate and a straight through mid section, What can i expect, Little, or more than a little power increase? I know it will be quicker but just wanted your opinions.

Cheers.

If you losing boost then the difference should be quite noticable. Are you just fitting the egr plate or removing the whole valve and doing the mod?

With a straight through you should notice better low down power and a nicer sound:D

I was planning on just using the £4 blanking plate, I did ask one ebay seller what the difference was between that and the £25 kits but got no reply, What are the differences? Cheers.

the "kit" removes the valve itself and makes the air intake into the manifold a little less disturbed, probably not that noticable, but if your egr is blanked why not remove it from the engine bay altogether as it serves no purpose and gives a little more room in the engine bay.

Cheers Panzer, For now though the weeshing persists, Got my replacement intercooler today, Removed the old one (which was leaking in two seperate places) After fitting the replacement intercooler, the car has a lot more pull, can feel more boost being produced, but the weeshing is still there, The pipe that comes from the bottom of the boost solenoid that goes to the metal intercooler pipe was caked in carbon so i assumed its leaking and replaced it with some silicon, Took it for a run, Wheeshing was worse but still lots of power, so i assumed its wheeshing from the boost solenoid connection, I tighten a zip tie on the hose (connected to the base of the solenoid) and the wheeshing went a little, then after a 5 minute run, The wheeshing dissapeared and it ran perfect, then it came back......... But still loads of power!! Im baffled.

Bypassed the boost solenoid today and its still wheeshing (intermittantly now) so thats ruled out, Reconnected the boost solenoid after i had discovered on of the two wires had snapped on the plug, fixed this, pulls fine but still wheeshes, Fitted a boost gauge between the actuator and boost solenoid, in 5th gear it will boost max 14psi upto 1900-2000rpm then flutter between 6-10 psi, It will do the same in lower gears but not create as much boost, the lower the gear the lower the max boost, I read somewhere that when this happens, (15psi @ 2000rpm then the flutter, this is fine and call it a day.. What do you guys think? Its still wheeshing though, Been on it all day cant isolate it. Washing up liquid bath now. Thanks.
