My 1991 200tdi Defender has disc brakes at the rear. If I've got my dates right the rear axle must have been converted at some point before I bought it.

When it comes time to replace the pads (or discs !) I need to know what parts to use... Anyone know how I can identify the source of the axle, discs, calipers ?

In the meantime it brakes great... :)

Thanks

As JM said for part codes, but put an answer to your question on the where the axle may have come from: it depends on the age of the axle, it could be a early or late Disco axle or a Defender axle from when they were introduced.

Parts are all interchangable on axles of the same age as the same axles were used on both. There are 2 types of caliper between the Disco and Defender axles. For a Disco SMC500240G which is a direct replacement for STC1265 and the earlier ones were RTC5890. For a Defender There is only the SMC500240G which as said above replaced the STC1265 for the 90 then there is STC1269 for the 110 which use STC1601.

The pads, SFP000270 are replacement code for STC9188 but a lot of places still sell them as such, they have a lug in the middle and two pins and springs hold the pads in position by pushing them down into place. If you get ones with holes in them for retaining pins they are 110 pads.
