What impact is A/C on MPG?

Yea, i did nuffink there, but that wire that is in the (sensor?) that looks a little stretched and tight to me
 
Ok i think* its the condenser? i say that because of the oil i found on it and around it, what do you think? anyone know the part # for it please? its a 97 Diesel P38

In my pda manual i cant find a brake down of the small condenser (the one behind the fog light grill) all i can find it the large one, i want one near the receiver drier (to the left of it)
 
Ok forget everything i ask for went down to the A/C guy :D he said its the condenser too (it has a small split in it at the bottom, that's where the oil is leaking from, and it was missing a few fitting bolts (im sure i put them all in!!)) having a look at prices fot one (arounf about the £100 ish mark) and fitting it again (i put a new one in about 3 years back) its a little pain in the ass, but not a bad job to do, but he's gona buy it fit it, test the system and fill it up again for £270 :D cash in hand (but he's gona give me a guarantee ;) so just for that i would say its worth it for the piece of mind, hope this is going to get it sorted now!!
 
I've experimented with AC on / AC off MPG loads of times and find it very difficult to get more than 0.5 mpg more with it off.

On a motorway run it's more economical to use the AC than have the windows open on something the size of a Range Rover anyway, aerodynamic drag makes sure of that.

Thanks. I'd forgotten about the extra drag caused by open windows. I did read once how much fuel it costs with windows cracked open.

I think then I have nothing to worry about.
