Other what have u done on ur disco today

I tested my new tool on Myrtle, a Hawkeye Total that I purchased after selling my extra Nanocom.

i changed the oil in the rear diff, and their was a lot of filings on the nut and the oil was thick and
sludgy,probably hasn`t been changed for years.

Bought new seals, sunroof drain connectors, and some sealant, so I can remove the front sunroof, and finally fix the leaking.... Might as well recover the rooflining whilst Im at it....

Any recommendations for some 4 way strech fabric. I know all fabrics are not equal

Some say, that Martrim is good.
Their service etc sure is, but the fabric.. mm.. Not a good enough 4 way stretch for the "map pockets" section on the headliner. It won't stretch enough to attach to the corners as theres a lot going on around there.

That's nice terrible.

Was about to change the oil in my girlfriend's P38 transfer case when I noticed that I bought 80W90 and hers takes ATF, so I put it in my D1. Good thing I did cos I just had 300ml of sludge in it

Oh.... chocomilk. Had that a few times....

New parts arrived, so all I need is some time to take out the sunroof.... New sunroof drip connectors, sealant, and a new seal...

Are those drip trays more durable than the originals do you know? When I did mine luckily the drip trays were fine (mine leaked between the roof & sunroof on which I used Sikaflex & touch wood it's been fine for the last three years) I ran a bead of Sikaflex round the inside of the drip trays & once the drain tubes were pushed on put some on where the serrated plastic tube meets the drip tray.

As you can see I don't think the original sealant is up to much !
Whilst you're there (I recommend) you may as well do the roofbar gaskets, mine weren't in the best of nick & another source of water leaks.

Been to Newbury LR spares today & managed to pick this little lot up for £40 !
ATC, 'wood effect' unit to match the outer dash air vents I got from Billing & the genuine new old stock p/s pump £22, as mines leaking, again
& all the assorted nuts/bolts/washers(some are packs of 5/10/20. So worth the 200 mile round trip, just, in a TD5 auto .

Well, there was a choice of two options..... Printed connectors, or injection moulded ones.... Went for the injection moulded ones from Emberton... I'll let you know how durable they are....

I went black on Bettys headliner, as it's java black, now has a 5% window tints, black leather interior etc. Will paint the wheels black too.
I also painted all the interior trims to black, and I'm trying to hunt down some BMW grab handles in black, but they are no longer made, so....

I actually bought 15 meters of the fabric to have enough for several cars (I have 4 discos now) or for other peoples discos as that wide enough is hard to find around here.

Haven't installed it yet, I need to source ALL the clips holding the headliner and trunk interior pieces as the previous owner who took it all out, didn't keep them or something....

So after picking up my 'wood' effect ATC unit & swapping the temp. switch bulbs with the ones off my old unit last night I noticed today that two lugs on one side were broken. So I pilot drilled holes, cut 3/4 of the way through the screws (no 6x3/4) then when they were at the correct depth I held the threaded bit with thin nosed pliers & twisted the heads off I then robbed two top hat rubbers of my old unit stuffed a tiny bit of blue tac in them & job done.

Thats carpet lining.... about 5mm thick.

Leant my Disco to the lad, as his 90 is a non starter... then he called me to say the front tyre is leaking air..... Well lad, its sat there foe a week with no problems. New tyre ordered at £165 a go...... jezus....

Usually it's either the seal around the rim or the valve, both should cost a few quid to fix and it's good for years.
