What did you do with your Range Rover today

Decided to treat Bix to a visit to Hayne Motor museum today after I finish work. He is not at all excited :p
They didn't have any P38s! Just one early Defender. I was disappointed. The rest of the place was pretty good though, would highly recommend if you're in the area and have a few hours to burn. Wouldn't travel for it though.
 
Cleaned the p38 inside and out looks better than new as long as you don’t stare too long.

Never understood why regular stretch bolts need to be done so tight though
stretch bolt is torqued past its state of elasticity, it undergoes a bit of stretchy stuff If I recall it is called plastic deformation, could be wrong ;) causing it to become permanently elongated which in theory gives a near perfect compression on the gasket..

However the issue with stretch bolts is the quality varies depending on manufacturer, some might stretch too soon, and/or snap.
Some might be too stiff and they'll strip the threads before stretching..

And other might be perfects.

Hence why I prefer ARP studs. ;)
 
G'day folks. Does anyone have any experience with the Britpart top hose? The plastic t-piece let go yesterday arvo when coming home. Steam was billowing out the back and then engine bay as we stopped. No I didn't drive it home. I called the AA and a flatbed was out to load it up and bring it home. So it only drove after the pipe blew onto the trailer and then into our drive. Which is where it'll sit again until I can get this part.
So I'm not sure if I should buy that part for about £1 or go OEM which is upwards of £40. It's 1 step forward and about 10 back at the moment.

Hmm plastic is plastic.. someone should make a metal one!!
Maybe it should be considered a service item that might not last as long as a hose

That's (should be metal) was the first thing that came to my mind yesterday. Perhaps the reason it isn't is that as flexible as even hardened plastic can be. I don't know though and could be talking utter bollocks. I am sure the plethora of experts we have here can tell us the pros and cons of both but I definitely thought a long the same path as you.

Plastic is probably 100th of a penny cheaper to make, plus you'll sell more.. winner
 
Another thing I found out about our car is that it has beautiful pops, bangs and burbles on the overrun when on petrol but not so pronounced when on LPG. I only noticed it because we didn't have the radio installed because I misplaced it (which I later found and installed without issue) but I think there will be a lot more radio turned off drives in the future when it's all going good again. My wife and I refuse to give up on this car.
