I'm guessing you're new to Freelander ownership?
The window regulator cables usually rot through as they are only poor quality multi strand galvanised steel wire which absorb moisture in between the strands.
Freelanders are not the only vehicles to suffer with this problem and I make new cables in stainless steel which will last indefinately.

Yer getz wot u payz for ...quite happy with the design of mine even with all of its faults...try a bit of research before you decide to buy eg Landyzone.
