Its a RHD p38 2.5 diesel. Got a damp footwell on the passenger side. I understand if its the heater o-rings its the drivers side so its more likely to be from the A/C. i had a leak last week but cleared the drain and it leaks a nice pool of water under the car if i leave it standing from the a/c so im at a loss, if the drain is clear where is the water in the footwell coming from?

it hasn't lost any coolant. so im guessing its not the cooling/matrix setup.

im thinking it must be from the a/c system, before i unblocked the drain last week it was dripping in the footwell, so im just wondering if its excess left over from that? if i have the glovebox out will i be able to see where the drain joins up to the system?

I dont think you can see it...you will be able to feel it though...take care though the gloveboxs can be a pia to refit properly

mhhh thanks for the advice so far guys, anyone else who has any recommendations of tracing the fault please post.
thanks

Where did you find the drain? How did you unblock it? Just a bit of wire?

I need to do mine. I have the wet carpet too. I know mine is just the AC because when the AC is off for a week of so, the carpet has dried out, plus if I soak it up with a rag it's clear and odourless.

Hi, I'm new to the forum.

I've just brought myself a Range Rover 2.5 DSE 98 a fews back. I also have the same problem. Mines only leaking on the passenger side. And its clear water. Not coloured sticky water. I had the little book icon up on my climate control for a while its not gone off. I've taken off the glovebox and its dripping from where the blower heater pipe connects the heater matrix in the middle of the car. My aircon system doesn't seem to work properley. When I turn it on the light flashes about 6 times then stays on. But the air doesn't seem to get any cooler. I can here the engine change slightly when I turn it on and off. Which indicates it is working. Where are these drain holes please as they might be worth checking.

Any ideas??

I just did mine this morning while I had the car up on stands to do the oil.

I was surprised at what they looked like. I was expecting a couple of pipes. They are either side of the transmission tunnel quite high up above the gear box and are like black domed rubber bungs with a cross cut in them.

Mine looked perfectly clean, but after poking with a bit of rod I noticed it dripping on the floor where it hadn't before, so it must have helped.

i just cleaned the immediate part with my hand, maybe i should stick a small bottle brush in there or something?

you can usually remove them from the evaporator case and clean them out proper, that way you can get a bit more access to the evap caseing and clear that out aswell. if yer tempted to stick a black n decker up the hole be VERY careful as you might drill into the evap.

you might like to try a short engine brush to clean out the pipes etc

my drivers side carpet was wet by the bonnet release handle after i wash it, turns out polen filter cover letting water in, i cleaned them up and sealed top edge with silicon and it seems to have cured it.
im pretty certain it was pollen filter covers as the filter was wet!!
water was dripping of the cover over the pedals!

If you have had to clean out the passenger side A/C Drain - I suggest that you shorten the drain pipe by about 5 - 10 mm. The pipes as fitted at landrover are the same length each side but the passenger side one has to be kinked to make it fit the smaller gap - the kink catches the SH1 and blocks it up - shortenning the pipe straightens it out and stops it blocking again .....
