As I dont trust my limited welding skills anyone in South Staffs Lichfield/Burton area that could weld chassis?
The vehicle is driveable and I will make the parts and pay but the days of seeing mobile welders advertising around here seem to be gone.

Thanks Nitemare I will be in touch and call over to see you. I would like to see your 200tdi it looks real neat.
Regards Chris.

ok work started, rad and panel out, spring bolts cut and lowered, wheels removed

Thanks for the pics. Looks like I have been running around on a wing and a prayer holding that lot together, good job I am not into serious off road stuff. I knew it had been patched but never realised how far it had gone.

Chris.

more tomorrow

Good progress there Pete. I now know why I have seen some old leafers kneel down like camels. I think you are attending to that just in time before it collapsed and stopped the traffic !
Chris.

ok a little later than planned (the job is finished and returned to Divie) but here's the last couple of pictures

dumbiron chopped off
pan015.jpg

pigeon **** found once the underseal had been removed
pan014.jpg

all rot cut out and first repair in place
pan017.jpg

new dumbiron being fitted/welded in, last couple of plates to be sorted
pan018.jpg

all done
pan019.jpg

and to finish off one new spring bush fitted along with a pair of new bolts all copperslipped to hopefully prevent future corrosion

chassis work is much preferable to bulkhead repairs :D

Service stars to Nitemare.
A really great job I am more than pleased. All painted and waxoiled now + I have re-set the diesel pump and the old series is good to go for a long time yet, hell I even cleaned the windows on it.
