Hi, new user, long time Landy owner.

Replacing my Zenith with a Weber for a while (well long enough for me to attempt to rebuild the Zenith anyhow) and I'm confused about the need for an adapter plate.

I'm hearing/reading several different stories here
(1) you need an adapter to fit the base of the Weber to the manifold
(2) you can remove the adapter you need from the base of your Zenith and use that for the Weber
(3) you do not need an adapter plate, its a direct swap from one to the other.

Can any more knowledgeable people here advise me what the true scenario is?

I'd rather know before I plumped ~90 for a new carb!

For ppl that like more back story, this is the carb I am thinking of...
WEBER Weber 34ICH Carburettor (WEB EXCLUSIVE SPECIAL OFFER)

Please feel free to shout up if you know another reasonable priced superior product (like a decent <100 Zenith).

And the current card is drinking fuel (even more then it did) running roughly and not really performing as I'd like. But to be fair, its probably decades old. I'm intending to get a repair kit and the Haynes book o' lies on it and have a go refurbishing it.

And, of course, thanks in advance. All comments appreciated!

I'll clarify this - I am *not* after the obvious discussion on the merits of the various types of carburetter, thats been done to death on every Landy Forum I have seen. I am only after experienced advice on fitting them!

Thanks! J.

I hope you have had success with your zenith or weber or both! I am in the same boat.. got both and want to sort out both, as the current fuel consumption is shocking!

you will need an adaptor they cost aroun the thirty quid mark ..i got one from safari engieering

Anything is better than a solex!
i spent 2 and a half hours trying to start a car on monday, it had twin bast**d solex carbs.
every fault you can find in one convenient package....
with the SU the problem is getting the manifold, the HIF6 is a good all round carb, and i would guess more power than the weber but several hundred pound more expensive for the whole project.
i fitted a weber ICH 34 on a petrol 2.5 litre last year and the owner is very happy.
have fun.
