Wayfarer North Wales CLOSED

The road known to many at “the Wayfarer” North Wales has a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) placed on it and is closed from 16-11-09 until further notice. This covers from SJ 12965 35532 to SJ 09185 36582. The reason for the TRO is due to water erosion and to allow for the Highways Dept to carry out the repair work. The TRO will last till the repairs are done. I will post back as soon as I know they have been done.

thats a shame is a great lane could do with some work doing on it though so might not be a bad thing

It is all down to the amount of water we have had. The hold was not there on the saturday and was over 2 foot deep on the sunday.

You know the little bridge on the way up? Well the water was over the top of that!!

Paul, did you not carry out some work to it recently? I drove it back in August and it did not seem that bad... I have seen worse! I guess its also the volume of traffic to, indeed a shame will it even open again? who knows.

Yes we repaire the sleepers. We repaire them again after the rain. The small section is no more and the rain had moved about 20 on the large section.

If you know the Wayfarer, the small bridge on the way up was under water!! This means the water has risen about 6 FOOT!! Now the stream is normanaly about a foot deep.

I've done the wayfarer 4 or 5 times now and would do it again tomorrow if I could. Would be a big shame if the TRO isn't lifted after completion.
If it's 6ft deep at the bridge the sooting box must be under water?

I dont think it will be repaired before then. But they are going to let me know as soon as the work is done.

I have been up to take a look today. The work has started, but the lane is not impassible right now. The people who are still using it are just making a big mess up there.

So please do not try to use this lane till the work is compleated.

Just got a general 'slap wrists' on another forum. Some laners have been on this route recently and it is still under a TRO. Not good practice whoever that was. May not have been anyone on here though.

Temporary TRO can only last 6 months - has it been renewed (twice)? AFAIK they can only renew it 3 times can't they?

Don't know to be honest, but as a wrist slapping was issued I assume that a TRO is in effect. I also assume there is a permenant version. Let's hope it hasn't come to that.
