Water pump TD4

2004 - TD4

Possibly looking for a Water pump for my neighbour as he is getting the Thermostat done next week. He says the genuine Water Pumps are ridiculously priced and being a pensioner he can’t justify that.

Anyone alternative brands out there that are just as good if not better ?

The better option is to not change the water pump if there is no leak on it.
The question is how long you want the new pump to last ?

Why changing the thermostat in the first place ?

The temp gauge is only going 1/4 way & the cabin is only lukewarm when heater is on.

That's a thermostat issue, not the water pump.
The thermostat is bolted to the water pump, but I'd not replace a working original pump with an aftermarket cheap pump, as the OE pump is pretty long lived. An aftermarket pump might not be, and knowing what a ball ache it is to change, I'd not do it unless it was leaking.
