anyone got a water pump to fit a 200 disco?

the one I got don't fit although its supposed to

new axles on and done but now need to source and fit pump before sunday

Local parts factor, take in the part number and they will source, Euros can get no problem but dont let them look it up as the think all pre TD5's are 300TDi's even on a reg search...

Don't laugh, but other than pump water, what does the water pump do. I'm used to petrol, so I'm just wondering. Must be linked to the radiator? Why does a petrol not need one?
