I have a 2001 Freelander GS 1.8 Petrol.

In the past couple of weeks everytime I indicate a warning light in the bottom right hand corner flashes on briefly, it looks like a trailer or something simliar? Anyone else had this problem or know what the light means, I don't have a manual so I don't know what the light is?

Any help appricated

i think that goes without saying as yo have purchased a 1.8K Gaylander.

an indicator relay is wot makes the click, click noise when your indicators flash - and yu have one which will operate indicators on a towed device (if yu had one) because all the wiring is already there in a gaylander.

HGF is short for heads gasket failure - a common design feature of the petrol Hippoos (oops - gaylander).

a door is wot falls orf when yo motor gets wet - another design feature of gaylanders.

I HAVE TRAILER RELAY IN AND IT DUNT FLASH SYMBOL ON DASH UNTILL I GOT TRAILER ON BACK!

CHECK IF SOCKET IS CLEAN!

HGF IS A TICKING TIME BOMB:eek:

NOT IF BUT WHEN IT'LL GO POP!!!!!

FREEBIE DOORS DUNT FALL OFF COS THEY FIY PROPERLY WI NO GAPS OR LEAKS!!

SORRY FOR SHOUTING!
DINT REALISE CAPS WERE ON AND CONT BE ARSED TO RETYPE!!!:D

i hope the clue is in the phrase "flashes on briefly". Mine always used to flash once and then stop. I believe that is what is happening here.

If you have a towbar fitted check the connections. If you don't, lift up the garpet in the back and in the rear storage well will be a connector taped to the floor, if this is corroded / wet / shorting on anything you may get the flash. My recommendation is to either snip and tape or put a sandwich bag over it and tape that tight to avoid water etc. Hopefully job done.

The light should flash once without a trailer/ caravan etc. attached, and flash with the indicators when one is attached. There are a few different types of relay around, some dont flash at all without a trailer attached.

Trailer warning light is self testing the W/Light bulb circuit, but should not flash constantly with normal indicators unless it senses the extra load of one or more extra indicator lamps.
