Wolf he orginaly posted saying to jack a wheel off the ground and spin the wheel to turn the engine over,
Think it's much easyer & safer just to use a rachet & out of gear clearly!

It is of course easier with a ratchet, as long as you don't have a fan cowling. Still don't see it starting with the ignition off!

As for your question Wolf, I wrote that based on a standard defender with open diffs (as it happens, OP has LSDs so doesn't apply). Yes, it will just sit there and spin one wheel in the air. Drive takes the path of least resistance through open centre diff and then again through open axle diff, sending it all to the wheel that can spin freely in the air.

In theory that would be the case but I'm still prittey sure if you started ya wagon in gear with one wheel off the ground it would still drive forward. It's worth a test lol

I'm happy to be proven wrong if he wants to give it a go. Oh and film it for us please ;)

it wont drive, unless it falls off jack. (standard motor, no lsd's etc!)

and for jackmac,

I will admit, I'm impressed by that video :D But try that on a fender with the ignition off :p

As for starting in gear, since you asked for a video...
Told you so!
