hi all currently have a problem wth my p38 the suspension is dropping on the drivers side and today would not go back up at all i fiddled about abit and eventually it did go back up but when left for 20-30 mins it will drop again the front drivers side the quickest there ar no leaks on airbags so was thinking could it be leaking at the valve block just thought i would ask befor buying a new valve block incase there were any other ideas to try befor doing this thanks alot

First, don't buy a new valve block yet. If you're sure the corner that drops doesn't have a leak, check all the airlines to that corner, both at the bag and at the valve block. Second check the height sensors. Sometimes a clean and refit will do the job or you may need a new one. Third if you're certain there are no leaks and the height sensors are fine, you can buy a refurb kit for your valve block which is a heck of a lot cheaper than getting a new block. Just search on Ebay and look for a company in Holland.

how do i check for leaks at the valve block and also if were a height sensor would it not be faulty all the time as it works ok when running just drops when left for 20-30 mins would it lift up of the stops at all if sensor was faulty

use dishwashing liquid and dilute slightly without beating it into a lather. then where you see a whole host of air lines coming out of the side of the EAS box try to wet each joint where the pipes are connected to the box. Try to follow the one to the driver's side front bag. You'll see it goes under or close to the battery. Worth removing that just make sure the line hasn't been rubbing on something and sprung a leak. Also test where the airline enters the bag. You'll be looking for bubbles forming (which is why its better not to lather your solution - makes it harder to see which bubbles are which).

rite have gone over all the airbags valve block again with leak detector spray and turns out there is a small leak on the drivers side rear airbag all the others seem ok as does the valveblock so my question now is why would the front drivers side drop so quickly you can put your hand in and feel it drop its that quick could it be a combination of the leaking airbag and maybe a faulty height sensor?? just cant understand why the sensor would fail when car left or is it because its sending no signal at all thats why it drops

If as the bag drops you can hear a clicking noise then the EAS is letting it down, if there is no clicking and it is still going down you have a leak that you have not found yet.

If the sensor is shagged it will give erratic readings or worst case none at all. The EAS ECU seems to try to compensate to an extent for poor readings but can lower the suspension to what it thinks is the correct level. Does it go down if you leave a door or the tailgate open?

You really need to get the fault codes read to know what is going on.

As Wammers says, if it's clicking it's EAS ECU lowering it, open a door and the clicking should stop, if it still goes down you have a leak.

Its always worth doing an overhaul on the valve block. The O rings are cheap enough and equally the job is simple enough. I will wger thats where your trouble lies.

The O'rings are bloody extorsionate. Don't know how many there are in a kit or the sizes wish i did. If you knew the sizes you could possibly get the lot from a supplier for a couple of quid.

Should have said relative to a new valve block. Ive just bought 1500 for a job at work - £25 lot.

rite i have just turned the car off and left the door open and it still drops quite quickly on the front drivers side as i said there is a slight leak on the rear but cant find anything on the front where its dropping the most what should i try next ????

if the engine is off, door open and it drops fast you have a leak. If you cant find it it is internal to the valve block, most likely the valve controlling that corner leaks.
