Hi all,
I have been reading about the idea of fitting a 87C thermostat from Freelander to a Discovery V8.This is suppose to protect the engine from running to hot and nasty things happening like cylinder liners dropping.

My engine runs at 105C according to Nanocom which I think is okay.Gauge = just tiny bit above half, its always like this for last 2 years.I believe this measurement comes from the ECU. People say its wrong?

One concern I have would be miss fuelling because the the lower temperature, maybe other things come in to play.

My Disco is running nice at the moment, but if can protect it I thought I would see what people thought?

I do not want to mess it up....

A quick look in my Gates catalogue their thermostats, at around £50, for your V8 have an opening temp of 82c, for my V8 it’s 88c, at around £15. :)

Thank you for your reply, thing is on Nanocom I get 105C engine temperature and I think thats okay, but am told its calculated, rather than an actual direct measurement. So I think I will swop it and see what happens.
