Anyone ever changed over from an auto to standard gear box!? Got a 1986 90 with a range rover V8 and Z4 auto box in it. Its got a standard 90 transfer box and range rover axles wondered if its as easy as picking up a standard 90 gear box and bolt in??? New to landy ownership gonna find my feet as i go along! Any advise greatly recieved!!

I looked into going down this route of changing to manual from the ZF auto box cos i blew my forward drive in the ZF(fitted to a 1990 rangerover), There is a bit of work involved, also a few differnet parts, you would need the complete pedal box for the clutch and brake, transmission cover, spigot bearing and flywheel. It worked out far more expensive to change to manual, than to buy the parts needed to repair the ZF. Otherwise im sure it can be done!, what advantages are you looking at getting?

THOUGHT IT MIGHT IMPROVE MY MPG A BIT!! ALSO AS ITS THE FIRST AUTO I'VE OWNED I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A BETTER OPTION AS A MANUAL TO HAVE AGO AT TRIALING WITH? BUT AS YOU'VE STATED THERE ARE QUITE A FEW PARTS NEEDED! cHEERS THANKS FOR THE REPLY
