Very pleased with my Mk1 V6, does anyone know of a chip change or ECU change that will improve economy (even at expense of performance). Happy to take diesel 0-60 times with around 30 to the gallon around town. Currently about 22-24 mpg on short journeys. Thanks Andrew

Chuckle. :) :pop2:

I can get 28.5mpg whilst feathering it at a constant 60mph on the motorway. Un that was tested pump to same pump, doing the same 140 mile trip for 5 days.

Thanks for the laughs !! Seriously - has anyone found a V6 chip?? What did it do? Where was it from? Thanks - I can't find one anywhere.

Dr Dave post 2 sums it up Rover 75 2.5 Motor tuning - MG-Rover.org Forums

Some do power upgrades but the one I've just found was the one that couldn't replace my auto gearbox or replace the cambelts. So I never advertise them...

You won't make a v6 Freelander ecomonical unless you replace it. With all the other possibilites for it to go wrong, non standard programming etc and the insurance... the cheeky robbers want £500 just to increase bhp by 10%... if you need economy then buy a Freelander with a different engine. If your looking for 30 rount town then you'd be getting 35 to 40 mpg on motorways. Won't happen wiv a v6.

Andyfreelandy, how many miles do you do in a year? May pay orf to buy a diesel within 2 years. I only do 4k miles per year so it int too bad for my v6.

my old v6 was never chipped but I did just under 60,000 miles in it and it averaged 24.6mpg.

The best ever figures were from driving to portsmouth and back - about 150 miles and mostly motorways which gave 31.91mpg. The exact same journey in my auto td4 gave 43.54mpg.

Worst was obviously short runs and worst recording was 14.78mpg - this was when first had the motor and petrol a lot cheaper then !
