Unlocking while driving

Hi, new here and new to LR.

I have a 55 plate Freelander td4 which has an annoying problem with the central locking in that when I'm driving all the doors unlock and continue to try unlocking periodically afterwards. If I press the lock button on the armrest it locks then unlocks immediately. It's really bugging me as I keep hearing the click-click of the locking mechanism while I'm driving.

Once parked and ignition off, the doors stay locked on the plipper, and there are no problems unlocking in the morning, just this really irritating constant unlocking noise while driving.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could cause this and is it easily (= cheaply) fixable?

Thanks in advance.

Is the CDL internal locking switch intermittently closing on the unlock side? Does it happen any time or only when driving over bumps un tratter owners?

Not sure I'm on the right track but could the constant unlocking be anything to do with the collision sensor which automatically unlocks the doors ?

It happens all the time while the car is running. If its the collision sensor, is this easily fixable?

Thanks for replying.

If it was the collision sensor I think it would set the air bags off. The collision sensor is part of the air bag system.

Not sure, it might need the G-sensor under the seat (assuming it has one) to trigger as well before it fires the airbag. I'm going to test the switches but if I need to check the collision sensor, where would I find it?

Another update. The problem has evolved and the car now won't stay locked even when the ignition is off.

This is driving me nuts!

Collision sensor is in the air bag conputer which is in front of the gear stick under the heater. Don't know how you'll test the sensors. They work on decelleration to change state. So I would disconnect the battery before remove the harness to get the air bag computer out or you may set you air bags off. Fuel cut off switch in at the back on the enigne on the bulkhead usually.

Thanks Hippo. The problem also appears to be temperature sensitive as it hasn't happens at all last week when the outside temperature barely rose above -1.

Really don't want to have to put it in to a dealer and spend lots of money on it as I only bought it for the winter (that never happened!) and plan to sell it in the spring.

If you open a door and press the CDL button inside, the closed doors lock, and due to one being open the car tries to lock the doors several times. You hear the noise as it does this. Is this the same noise you hear when it's doing the unlocking?

If the inertia switch was faulty, it would open and therefore open all doors and cut power to the fuel pump. So I guess it's not this.

Can you also lever out he CDL switch and pull the harness off the back of it to see it the problem stops? This switch is a push to make contact type. If it's causing the problem then this will prove it. Disconnecting the harness just means the switch won't work. This won't effect anything else other than the manual locking control from the button.

Thanks for your input Hippo, I'm going to try pulling the wires at the weekend. To answer your first reply, it's a different noise from the one when you try locking the doors with one open. It's more like the noise you get when all the doors are unlocked and you press the unlock switch on the door again.

Hasn't happened for a couple of days now but I'm sure it will return.
