honestly i think if they cant keep making it the way it is, then quit while your ahead, it would be aweful if they did, but judging by there new designs.... its the lesser of two evils....

They have to move with the times unfortunately, look at the gaylander.

The original series, 90/110 & defender's will always be what people see in a Land Rover, the shape & style is an icon and a testament to a no holes barred working ( at times ) vehicle.

Land Rover could make a new car that looks worse than the gaylander, it wouldn't bother me as i'm happy that the ' originals ' are still going strong...including mine :)

That is quite simply Gross.

The Defender obviously has a winning look so why change that now? Its barely changed for how many years?!

Yeah, im not entirely sure why they have to change the looks, its an extremely popular vehicle and doesnt look out of date purely because thats what a Defender looks like.

If the problem is that its difficult to build, then they just need to look at building the same vehicle but instead of changin the looks, change the way its put together. Could make it cheaper to build and probably improve the vehicle at the same time whilst keeping the looks the same.

Il be absolutely gutted if Land Rover produce anything even near to the above. They'd be aswel just stopping all together.

The vehicle doesnt need changing imo.

as far as i know they have to change the design due to new pedestrian legislation, something about the front end being to dangerous in a collision with a pedestrian i think..... personally im all up for looking out for the pedestrians and what not, but at 60mph, its not going to make much of a difference :D

One clear upside to making the proposed ****e pictured above is all ours will suddenly take on iconic status and very soon be worth a mint:D
Oh and yes its about pedestrians as well as emissions, manufacturing materials onward recycling etc.

Nah that's not official, just an artist's impression of the direction he thinks LR will take the Defender. I think it will head more in the direction of the Discovery / RR - square jawed, tough and minimalistic.

Should have gone to SpecSavers. All these design concepts are just too 'plastic' and ugly. I reckon that instead of trying to protect pedestrians by fitting crumple zones, they should just design something to ensure a quick and painless death. Spikes for example. I think I'll work out a prototype and offer it to Land Rover for a modest fee. Any volunteers to try it out???
