does anyone know of anything i can stick in my tyres to stop or slow puntures ? ive been told about some slime stuff the farmers use.... anyone know of it ? or know where to get it ? cheers...

I use Airseal in mine, cost £10 a corner, also a different brand called ultraseal is out there, works a treat. Wife and Son's cars also have it in and used this or similar in my Harley for the past 15 years. Google both Airseal and Ultraseal and also check out u tube. Great videos shows you what protection it provides.

I always was lead to believe these sort of things screwed you up if you needed a puncture repaired as the gunk on the inside of the tyre would stop the repair patch sticking, perhaps if Ratty is about he could explain if I am right or ------------ wrong again!

I've been told by a few tyre places they wno't touch tyres with the gunk in them.

I've found using petrol stations with free air is the best option - every fill top the tyres back up again :)
(then again, mine is a weekend toy only)

Airseal is enviromentally friendly, simply washes away with water when you take off the tyre. The product provides a permanant puncture repair when exposed to air, so you wont need to get a patch or a plug. As long as you check your tyres regular, and remove any embedded objects, (cos with this stuff in them you might not know they are there) rotate the wheel, hole downwards immediatly and it will re- seal. You will only loose about 1 PSI. Remember though repairing sidewall punctures and tears is a no no, particularly if you use your vehicle on the road as well and this stuff is not designed to fix them either. I have never had a problem with any garage when it comes to worn tyre repacement, I just tell them the type of gunk in them so they don't get a surprise, but the stuff usually all stays coated to the inside of the tyre where it is supposed to be. I have just replaced the Goodyear AT's on my ride and re filled the new tyres with airseal. £10 a corner, I like to think of it as a kind of insurance and it has worked fine for me & the family for many years.

i put some green slime in my lawnmower tyres cos the fronts were always flat when i came to use it... slowed the deflation down for a couple of monthe then i noticed the green slime oosing out through the tread pattern.... probably the origional 20 year old tyres.....

The green slime stuff can ooze out of the valves of the tyres in hot weather.

Don't know about the other stuff tho.

I used the green stuff on my mountain bike but was pretty disappointed. Didnt seal a puncture when I was riding and the green stuff makes a repair impossible.

If you put any of these in your tyres beware when you check your pressures. If the valve is at the bottom of the tyre and you let any air out the 'gunk' can jam the valve, sealing it like it would a puncture.

I've not found any of these that work well with tubes. They all just seem to ooze out of the tube then slosh around inside the tyre. If you're running tubed tyres you're better off with tube shields but of course they won't stop you puncturing the side walls.
