Tyres General AT2 v Kumho Road Venture MT and sizes

Afternoon

I currently have Pirelli Scorpions on and need to change one so probably two or all four.

Currently my size on steels is 205 80 R16 (Disco 1 L Reg)

Can i change the size as the ones i am looking at dont seem to have that size.

Main use is for snow, some trips out in fields around house with the game keeper, carrying the dogs, very little road use except getting out of village when it is bad weather or school run in snow as I am a bit remote or taking dog to vet. On that basis should i look at General AT2 or the Kumho MT or indeed others? And can i change the size on these steels. Only do 1-2k miles pa absolute max.

Hi CB, if I were you, bearing in mind the low annual mileage, I would be looking at a set of these :

23570R16ITDAK | 235/70R16 Insa Turbo Dakar Tyre Only

Good quality, safe and excellent traction where you will need it. In this size will suit very well.

They look nice
I had the at2 and wrangler atr which I preferred out of the 2 but based on your use, go Mt

Can't go bigger than that with std height suspension

I would go for mud terrain retreads, preferablay second hand, and stick to the standard 205x16 size. Then you can have any hours of amusement when you tell friends and colleagues that you have fitted used remoulds!

Have been offered some good tread at2 that are

235 70 16

Will they be ok on my steels and will the size difference affect anything?

Hi Colin GG AT²'s are an excellent tyre, I've used them several times.

235/70/16 is the alternative std. size, so all will be good.

Hi Colin,I have to say you are very lucky the forum has not jumped all over you for starting a tyre thread!. The general 2s a are a bloody good set of shoes,I run them, I would defo go for them.

Hi

my D2 came with G Grabber AT, 255/60 R18. They score F and F for wet grip and economy in official ratings.

I was going to ditch them and fit "posh" tyres, BUT, having put 4000 miles on them since Sept, I can say they are very good!

Good wet grip, good dry grip, still get 33 MPG at 65 MPH.

This week I drove from Girvan, West Coast Scotland cross country to the M74.Gretna. Snow, Slush wind! They felt very sure footed.

Im still planning to fit my Winter tyres on my spare 16" steel rims, probably Hankook, but thats because in some of the European countries I visit, you have to have M&S tyres Nov to March/April

Thanks, oops. Did not see a thread for that, was more about size initially with Disco 1.
