Tyres for off and on road

Hi, I've been reading the forum looking for info on tyre size. My local garage says I can get some 235/85/16 to put on my disco. It does have a 2" lift and will be used 20% on road and 80% off. I'm not going for a wider tread pattern but for the height, will these give me problems?

I think u'll need to do some cutting with that size

I have a late 2002 Disco with a 2inch lift and had to do no cutting at all to get those size tyres on mine - they fit a treat.

Do you find that larger tyres knacker your half shafts and diffs quicker than a smaller tyre? I'm building my own off roader not modifying so the cutting side of stuff isn't really important. Which is the better option? Can't decide whether to go for the 235/85/16 or the 265/70/16 or would a different size be better. Dont want to be replacing parts every 2 minutes.

I've been running the 235/85R16 for 4 years now and am still on the original half shafts and diffs so you figure it out

but then I don't thrash the hell out my Disco

Personal choice i reckon but i went with kingpin 205 16 mt's and im impressed wi em on road and laning got set of 5 fer £175.. there aint much diff in size to original 235/70

Been running 235/85r16 for quite a while now with no probs
Only fitted that size to get the lift.

My dad bought some costly 80/20% BF Goodrich tyres and they are absolutely hopeless even on grass,forget wet grass and mud!Dont bother!Grabber AT2 are a great allrounder,I reckon,without sacrificing too much either way.

I know jack ****e about how they work with lifts and wider wheels though !
