Tyre Pressure ???

HI Guy

Just bought a TD4 May be a silly qusetion but can you advise on Tyre Pressures. Have had a quick check on internet and most site are saying 26psi all round. Checked mine and have 40 psi

I am running on 16in wheels.

Its in your owners handbook

Isn't it also on the door or B pillar?

What year is that page from as mine says 30 and there is loads of conflicting advice whether its 26 or 30?

I've heard 30 until 2000 cars then 26 after but someone posted on here their manual said 30 and theirs was a 2004 model!

Dont buy it from Ebay, search on here for RAVE or owners manual.
There are plenty available

My '04 Sport says 30psi in the handbook............I believe LR ammended the handbook to show 30psi for all models.

Certainly the handbook for later models show 30PSI all round regardless of the number of passengers. The only difference is when heavily laiden or towing then they say to increase the rear to about 40PSI (haven't got the book to hand for the exact figure).
Certainly we find that 30PSI is fine, any lower and you can feel the ride getting a little soggy.

bit of a tricky one this, can vary from vehicle to vehicle depending on which tyres fitted and so on.

Did a bit of trial and error with mine, started at 40 psi all round, then every couple of days dropped a couple of psi until I got to 26. made a note each time, and found it gave the best handling etc at 33/34 psi, which is where it stays. Mine's pretty well loaded most of the time, so yours may be a lower psi value.

also, you could search for the chalk test on this forum, which may give you some idea of how to find the right psi.

it involves drawing a line in chalk across the tyre then driving forward. you look at the mark made on the road, only the edges with middle missing, too soft, only the middle with edges missing, too hard, continuous line, just right, no mark, must be raining or you've drawn it on the spare !
