...On the point of 'so many threads asking the same old tired questions', then perhaps the Moderators and Administrators of this site could combine all the 'same questions' into just one thread, just like the Mercedes forum does?...
The Freelander members are looking to do that. Am gonna start it orf soon for peeps to add stuff to it. Along the lines of this, but with betterer layout un spellin:

Well said Hippo,

New rant starts here:

I wanted a 'bigger' battery so I measured up the tray and reckoned an F18 85 amp/hr job would fit.

The spotty-youth bar-steward behind the desk almost refused to sell me it - said it wouldn't fit and I'd be bringing it back to get the 'right' one.

It fitted perfectly. I do know how to use a ruler - haven't forgotten yet.

End of rant.

Happy New Year all. :D

like the way this thread is going, and like your idea hippo. should help us all out. even a muppet like me might one day say something useful. Still waiting though!!!

Yep, well said Hippo, your input to the site has helped me a lot since I bought my TD4.
I am sure if the Queen was a Freelander owner you would be on the new years honours list.

wot about the "all yu need to know about Gaylanders fred"? apart from Hippo (who is an onarary tratter owner) who else on here has read it?

whats the point of writing things down if, and I quote, "On the point of 'so many threads asking the same old tired questions', then perhaps the Moderators and Administrators of this site could combine all the 'same questions' into just one thread."

I get sick n tired of peeps saying "I dont want to look - tell it to me all over again" - I aint criticising yo lack of knowledge - but its all here if yu care to look. Hippo - yu are inventing the wheel yet again.
Bet none of the noobs on here have studied the VCU testing thread either  Hippo - yu and me both know how much effort has gone into our gaylander threads - i have no intention of explaining it all again to peeps who come onto this forum with the "they cant be that bad, surely" mentality.

To all of you that havent browsed the forum - look in the FAQ section and search for "Freelander" - yu will be amazed at what is in there.

Perhaps an extension to the “facts” fred then? Some extra info to help noobs wiv links to freds wiv topic specific fixing. Then if they turn up wiv problems we can point them to that fred first.

Td4 = change to bmw filter, egr + synergy if yer want
Petrol = check yer coolant regular
Auto = check reverse gear works + don’t remove the wrong nut
IRD/rear diff = change yer oil now and many don’t
Tyres = check yer tyres are same make/model/size un why
VCU = one wheel up test it as standard + what to do it if fails
Common stuff for noobs to check = vcu bearings, missing props/vcu, what mondo mode is, rear diff mounts, anit roll bar mounts, hdc switch, brake switch, rear door/sunroof leaks, cracked coolant tank, breather pipe on ird, windows/doors work and repair freds for cables, service sheets, benefits of paraffin over petrol…

i hope yu have nothing better to do then, coz theres a noob every week that can't be arsed to read for themselves, and then there's the ones that have been on for a year and a half and still haven't read anything:rolleyes:, so i reckon a pm from yu to every freelander owner ( max 10 at a time) will only take you 6-9 months.
Good luck :).
thanks for that ,i will try me best :d :)
