Hi all, I have a 3 door Freelander TD4 with 225/55/R17 tyres on. Currently running Perelli Scorpion STR's. Have just noticed that they need replacing and am not sure where to start.

I would like some tyres that will be ok if it snows or there is a little bit of mud but nothing extreme. I have a set of mud tyres on a set of steel rims for that.

Can anyone make a suggestion for tyres? I dont want them to be really noisy either. (Have the mud tyres for that)

I have looked on ATS website and the cheapest they do for the size i require is

Continental Conti4x4Contact's at £193.99 each. Anyone used these?

Just fitted a set of five Hankook Ventus RH06 to my wife's TD4.

As you are aware this size does not give you many options but as you have a set of steels for off-road it isn't really an issue.
The Hankooks give a nicer ride than the Michelin Synchrone's they replaced and dry & wet weather grip is at least as good if not better. Noise levels are much better, the Michelin's could be very rough & noisy on certain surfaces yet silent on others whereas the Hankook's are just silent. Of course it hasn't seen snow or ice yet but I can't believe they will leave it floundering. Off road, who cares? I have the 90 for that and my wife never even touches a grass verge with the Freelander:D. Don't know about wear rates yet, the Michelin's did 50K miles but only time will tell if they get anywhere near that.

Best bit was the price.
Through Tesco (who in turn go through Black Circles but give you points as well) they were £123 each inclusive.
