Sounds like a washer motor, anyway. I've just replaced the entire front wiper system ('orrible job access wise) and upon stuffing all the wiring back behind the dash I thought I'd best carry out a few checks before finally tightening the screws. Since I'd had the instrument cluster out I particularly wanted to see if all the warning/panel lights/gauges etc were working. That all checked out fine, but when I turned on the sidelights to ensure the relevant panel light came on, there was a distinct sound of a small motor whirring seemingly coming from the front left of the vehicle! Now this may have been happening all along for all I know and be nothing to do with my disturbing the wiring. The only electrical things I've actually changed were the wiper motor and its control relay and the sidelights still come on as they should, as does the panel light for them, so.... is this, er, 'normal' behaviour?
