Before I start can I just say I am not very mechanically minded,I have a problem I hope someone can advise me on, I will try and give you as much information as possible.

It is a 2002 model with 144.000 miles on the clock,I have owned it for three years, before I bought it I read up a little and the downside was they were supposed to be a little underpowered so when I drove it I was not concerned it was underpowered as it drove ok,I recently had to have a water leak sorted above the pump and in conversation with the mechanic mentioned how underpowered it was, when I went to pick it up after the leak was sorted he said he had noticed that a turbo connector at the rear / bottom of the engine was broken he re connected this and blinkin ek it made an incredible difference in performance.

Just lately I heard a whining noise and it seemed to go into limp mode for a short while then picked up again then the turbo top hose was split and there was oil everywhere,I fixed this and now it has gone back to be underpowered and it is smoking (blue-ish) not all of the time but sometimes at idle at traffic lights and when accelerating other than that it drives ok,the garage has checked out some turbo filters and they were quite bunged up he has cleared them but has made little difference.

Sorry to harp on but the garage has assumed the turbo is at fault and probably needs changing, any advice good or bad would be most appreciated
