Went for an mot, failed on the rear tub supports, not sure if I have time to fix it all my self, I think I need a new floor aswell, can I just buy the supports and rubber chassis mount things and a normal sheet of ally plate, rip the old stuff out and put new in?
Also the supports that run lengthways, can I drill out the spot welds and rivet the floor to them ? Or do I have to buy a proper floor ?
If I was to just get the garage to do it, any ideas what it should cost?
Also its a series 3 88 van
Thanks

Ok cheers, what thickness plate should I be using? I was guessing 2.5 or 3mm? I wont be putting anything particularly heavy in there!

You want some Dave? Got the old plate floor from mine which I have no use for. Welcome to take it when you grab the axle. Been cut up though cos it used to have a cage through it so would want riveting together

I did think that too! In fairness, they need doing anyway, 1 is missing for sure (front) don't think the middle functions much and the rear I think is ok, also the floor needs renewing so I guess it's not unreasonable to say its not safe, I guess if I were to load it up there would be a reasonable chance of collapse, not that I ever do have anything in there.

Good old fashioned GUNK for me or white spirit.
Edit sure I posted this in Dominics post re gearbox cleaning?
