Tracing a vehicle owner from reg number

Hello,

Not specific to Range Rovers I know but: Does anybody know how I can trace the current owner of a vehicle from the registration number, I'm trying to track down a bike I used to own. I tried the Police and got nowhere, not surprised really.

Think if you have good enough reason you can apply to DVLA

for obvious reasons police wont give these details out!!!!

There's a link on the DVLA website somewhere, fill it in, type a reson why the info is required, pay £5 or something similar and if they think the request is valid they'll forward the current owner's details. The worst that'll happen is you'll loose a fiver.

mate i dont think youll have much luck i sold a car and never filled in and sent off the logbook. the littel cu.t i sold it to was getting speeding and parking tickits and the car was still in my name...dvla police no help wot so ever..i dont think its to hard to find out who the bike is inshoured with and if your smart you might find wot you need from them. thanks jamie.....never mind mate looks like thinghs have changed you can check with dvla on line for £5

I think you'll find this service (I've used it myself) is to trace previous keepers, not the current owner.
