answering the original question, I have seen somewhere that the plug is desigened to be magnetic and soes com out like that but you should only be woried if there are larger bits than that in there.

PS I am over the 100 mark!

Don't worry about the Bart simpson hair do on your Gearbox plug it is absolutely normal.... worry when big lumps of metal come out!!

Check this article, your drain plug looks similar to the one in the picture, I would not fret.
