Hi everyone,

Well first post here goes...

I'm in the market for an l322 with a budget around the 2002/2003 mark - I've been offered an 04 3.0 hse at a really good price; one farm owner with full land rover service history until 8000 miles ago.

On paper it looks good, however the sticking point is the mileage at 165,0000!

I suspect it's been a working vehicle and it has a towbar fitted- it drives well although steering is a little heavy.

My question is with that sort of mileage what sort of issues should I be weary of? I've read a bit about the gearbox issues and as far as I'm aware the gearbox hasn't been replaced (although will have been serviced).

My other option is an 02 4.4 vogue, immaculate with 86000 miles, albeit it's a lot more expensive and at the ceiling of my budget.

Same again any mid life issues with those?
Thanks for any advice

Would have thought the gearbox must of been changed, but if it's one owner and he said it hasn't been changed then it could be on its last legs....

Mines on 156k and still going strong

These motors last well! Seen some for sale with 250k miles on them !

Always worry about how a farm vehicle has been treated though

The 4.4 will probably be a better car

Depending whether you want decent MPG from a diesel or a nippy petrol guzzler ! Lol

Remember don't max your budget out as you should make sure you have a couple of grand spare for repairs !

Also keep in mind the HSE won't have as many toys as the vogue will have, hence the price difference

Good luck :)

Never expend all your budget buying a Range Rover, especially an L322, always keep a couple of grand back to fix it.
I wouldn't worry about the mileage, I would worry about the gearbox, it's unlikely to have been seviced as LR claimed it was sealed for life, life being about 80K miles:rolleyes:
The diesel engine will be good for 300K if well looked after.
Ckeck carefully that all electronic systems work.

Hello and welcome to the forum :)
Just out of interest if you don't mind me asking, you say at a really good price, how much ?

yep depends on what a really good price is....that will be the decider.

if the other one is maxing your budget out, walk away as you will need some funds to put it write normally..
