Hi folks
Just thought I would let you know how Tiny and I got on this weekend with the gold plated, dimond encrusted pipe. After picking up the new pipe from the dealer (at the grand cost of £150) and trying all week to get the bolts on the sump pan off I noticed the bottom hose could be accessed under the N/S arch. With the liner removed under I went and removed the bottom hose. So far...so good. Engine cover off, hose clips loosened. Out of the 5 coolant pipes and 4 fuel pipes attached only one hose was willing to detach itself from the old pipe so the hacksaw came out and i cut the pipes at the ends. I used the new pipe as a reference to give me an idea where the old one was attached and man - was it attached!! Eingine block at the front, gearbox at the side, heat shield at the rear under the manifold and to various other hoses, wires and pipes on its travels. After all was removed I needed a quick call to Professor Rubic to work out how to get the damn thing out but eventually managed after removing the battery and aibox. The new one required a few "modifications" to get it in (ie: bending half the brackets then bending them back into shape in situ) and then attached the fuel and water pipes back on, clamped it in, put the bottom hose on, refilled and bled the fuel/cooling system and "Bo yaka" - working a treat and a lovely new hose to boot. Access obtained from the wheel arch, under the bonnet and underneath near the downpipe. Job time: 3 hours, knuckles sheared: 3, cuts: 5, bruises: 2. . Forgot to take a pic of the huge spiders web under my engine cover that made me laugh - always a good sign
