Tom have it done immediately - when mine was fairly new the belt broke at 32,000 miles and I assume it did not have the mods then - if the view is around 60k then mine at 42k is close enough given the thrashing the whole vehicle gets so when I put it on the road again after its usual summer sorn it will get done immediately.

yer talking bollocks :p

:D:D:D:D I was right about the 60k as well:p:p:p:p

I just checked, its 60k or 5 years for the service interval;);)

I would, especially as that age of 300 had the "old style" pulley system, which had the guides on the crank pulley, and a tendancy to fail prematurely,
Look for a yellow X on the timing case to see if its had the mod or not,

28K miles, original/tracable, and what has it done in its earlier life, spent a lot of time idling?? that sounds like an unbelievably low mileage for an 18 y/o motor.

The only mark I can see is this yellow dot (see photo) do you think that means the mod has been done? I don't know what to do. I guess I should probably get it changed anyway.

As far as history, it's genuine miles, with history. It belonged to a bigwig who kept it in a barn and only used it in the summer for country fairs. Then he died and his wife sold it to a chap who had it resprayed but his wife made him sell it and that's where I came in. It only had 24k on it when I bought it last summer.

If any doubt change it, kits are cheap and its not a difficult job, well worth peace of mind and far better than bent pushrods, possible other unkown damage and being stuck at the side of the road thinking, yep should of changed that belt last weekend...:)
